Mansion Pottery — the building behind the Black Year story

The former Mansion House Hotel building used by Mansion Pottery, with ware visible on a board extending from an upper window. This undated photograph shows the pottery’s setting, not the moment of the 1854 crisis. Chipstone’s research connects Harker and Smith’s operation here with workers being paid in ware during the financial depression.
